ANDREI MARGA
Professor Marga has been rector of "Babeş-Bolyai" University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania since 1993, where he is professor of contemporary philosophy and general logic in the Faculty of European Studies. During his tenure as rector, Professor Marga has worked to engage the University in an international network and along multicultural lines, including providing courses of study in Romanian, Hungarian, and German languages. From 1997 to 2000, Professor Marga was the minister of national education, in which role he launched a program of higher education reform for the transition toward a European system of education in Romania. He is a member of the board of the European University Association and the recipient of national merit awards from France, Moldavia, Portugal, and Romania; most recently, in 2003, Professor Marga received the Gold Medal from the University of Tübingen, Germany and an honorary doctorate from Debrecen University, Hungary. Professor Marga holds a Ph.D. in contemporary philosophy from "Babeş-Bolyai" University.
