Serbia is working toward membership in the European Union in the near future. Even now there is a demand for experts who will work on harmonising the economic, legal and political system of our country with the EU standards. This future membership will open up the market for numerous job opportunities in EU institutions and bodies.
The student target group for these studies includes the individuals who plan to work in organisations, businesses and institutions related to the European Union or its bodies. It is expected that students from the neighbouring countries of ex-Yugoslavia, Hungary and Romania will show interest in enrolling for these studies. Another target group comprises of foreign students who wish to study the Serbian political and legal system, as well as the history and culture in Serbia and South East Europe.
The studies will be conducted in English and will consist of four semesters, organized on the basis of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). There will be four obligatory modules:
research methodology,
political system of the EU,
economic system of the EU, and
institutions and the legal system of the EU.
Module coordinators will be professors from the University of Novi Sad, University of Belgrade, University of Münster (Germany), Nottingham-Trent University (Great Britain), Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca (Romania).
Students are expected to have an advanced knowledge of English before enrollment. Two semester specialist studies of another foreign language will be incorporated as an obligatory subject.  Students will also have to choose five elective subjects from an extensive list of courses from the key areas. Finally, students will have to write and defend a Master’s thesis.
There will be an obligatory six-week internship in an international governmental or non-governmental institution or organisation abroad or at an institution or organisation in Serbia that have direct partnerships with EU organisations and institutions.
In the near future, it is also intended that the students within this program should spend one or two semesters at the University of Münster, Nottingham-Trent University, or Babeş-Bolyai University, in which case they would receive a double diploma. The University of Novi Sad will be working on the fulfillment of the main condition for this to become possible, namely the accreditation of the program at the partner universities.
