THE EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES POLICY OF THE EU

2. Aims of the Course:
Course should enable students to:
:: Understand the EU policy, aims and mechanisms of promotion of equal opportunities;
:: Principal problems in this area and affected categories;
:: Become aware of the EU regulations on the equal opportunities;
:: Develop knowledge about the future processes in this field.
Course Delivery3. Contents:
:: The history of the EU equal opportunities policy;
:: Dignity at work and discrimination (Direct discrimination, Indirect discrimination);
:: Sources;
:: Freedom of movement (Mobility and migration, Mobility and education, Transfer of social security rights);
:: The equal treatment between women and men (Balanced participation of women and men; Equal pay, Access to employment, vocational training and promotion, Family responsibilities, Social security issues, Positive discrimination);
:: Migrant workers (Equal pay, Working and living conditions, Vocational training and education, Family members treatment);
:: Equal treatment of workers on flexible jobs (Pay, Promotions, Social insurance, Vocational training);
:: Equal treatment of older employees.

:: Describe the principles of the EU on the equal opportunities in the EU member states;
:: To implement the EU directives and other documents on the equal treatment.

Oral course work (individual contributions based on recommended reading) and a written exam paper at the end of the course.
