SOUTH EASTERN EUROPEAN LEGAL HISTORY

2. Aims of the Course:
:: Students should get the knowledge of the basis of legal history development of South Eastern Europe, from the first legal sources till 20th century;
:: This module will enable students to understand legal systems of South Eastern Europe;
:: Students will be able to understand the influences of other European legal systems to South Eastern  European ones
Course Delivery3. Contents:
:: The sources of mediaeval laws of South Eastern European countries
:: The influence of Roman and Byzantine law on the genesis of legal systems of South Eastern Europe
:: The 19th century legislation – origins and the influence of foreign legislations (influence of Code Civile and Austrian Civil Code)
:: Review on the modern legislation

4. Indicative Reading:
There are no books on South Eastern European legal history in English, therefore the lecturer will provide students with relevant texts and papers.Readings and literature in other languages will be assigned later.

:: Students will be able to understand and explain the main principles of South Eastern European legal systems;
:: Will be acquainted with main legal sources;
:: Will understand the influences of other European legal systems on the South Eastern European ones;

7. Assessment Methods:
Oral (presentation of a short paper and recommended reading on class meetings) written (short paper on one of the offered topics and written exam)
