Abstract:
Discussing Samuel Huntington’s (The Clash of Civilization) and Seyla Benhabib’s (The Claims of  Culture) contrary position of cultural conceptions, problems of Identity and the Other in European transformation process will be the focus of our interest.
By using extracts of English, German, Lithuanian and Serbian literary texts, the danger of Euro centric domination of the Other as well as the chances for European cultural sphere’s enrichment, arising through a joining of difference and agreement will be considered.
We view human cultures as open systems, which constantly create, recreate and negotiate imaginary boundaries between ‘We’ and the ‘Other (s)’.
